King George VI Public School officially opened January 18th, 1949

A letter received by the Board indicating the proposed name of the school was acceptable to King George VI

An invitation printed in the Chatham Daily News inviting the public to an open house at King George VI P. S. prior to the opening ceremony

Curran & Herridge Construction Company of Sarnia, built King George VI P. S., and provided this photograph of the newly completed building

Early in the history of King George VI Public School

The "new" design of student desks were unique to King George VI  and Victor Lauriston

The photograph showed the "brightly furnished classrooms" and "displays of children's work and clever decorations provided by the teachers"

 

The "cheerful" and "pleasant working conditions" in a Grade 4 classroom at King George VI. The "swing closets" were a new feature
